Album

Live at the Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany 1962 is a double album featuring live performances by the English rock band the Beatles, recorded in late December 1962 at the Star-Club during their final Hamburg residency. The album was released in 1977 in two different versions, comprising a total of 30 songs by the Beatles. The performances were recorded on a home tape machine using a single microphone, resulting in a low fidelity recording. Ted Kingsize Taylor began to investigate possible marketing. Offering 28 of those performances, Last Night in Hamburg is a German release from 1999. These performances take listeners back to a time when The Beatles were about to become huge they were still playing small clubs, but it wouldn't be long before the Fab Four started selling out original lineup of the Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best regularly performed at different clubs in Hamburg, West Germany, during the period from August 1960 to December 1962 a chapter in the group's history which honed their performance skills, widened their reputation, and led to their first recording, which brought them to the attention of Brian Epstein. The Beatles early releases were on the Vee-Jay, Swan and Tollie labels, before EMIs US counterpart, Capitol, sat up and took notice. Unfortunately for The Beatles, Capitol often insisted in dropping certain tracks, reassembling running orders and constructing new releases by economic and judicious use of the songs that were coming from London. The Capitol albums also contained a handful of alternative mixes and instrumental tracks not available anywhere else. Some of these are available on the Capitol Albums volumes, and are worth investigating for anyone interested in variations in tracklis.
