Quite rightly, everyone is going nuts for this 12 from the chest caving kicks and acid propulsion of 'Power To Prophet' on the A-side, over to an optimised Steve Poindexter tribute in 'Crash', re-engineering Chicagoan style with a Detroit muscle car engine. Bukelv
Ever since the re-launch of the mighty M-Plant imprint back in 2009, the quality rate and consistency of Robert Hood's output, both under his real name and his Floorplan alias, has been sumptuous. Churning out one monumental EP after another, he's at the the absolute top of "who's who" in modern day techno. That in itself wouldn't be so strange, but taking into consideration mr. Hood has been active for over two decades now, it's more than impressive he still puts out music so visceral and tight, it actually makes the majority of the scene's heroes go run for their money.

Which brings me to this release. My favorite since the label went back to business. Simple as that. The title track is an acid riddled monster that crawls at a steady 130BPM with an infectious acid riff that goes all over the place like an infuriated dose of mercury. The music does tend to break down and build back up again, effective breaks and all of that, but it is all about the bulky acid riff on this one, and how it keeps on beefing itself up while getting pushed in the back by the jacking bass line. Superb nod to the past while always maintaining a steady focus on the future. Way to go!

As for Clash, it's an obvious, yet extremely well done, nod to the Video Crash classic, a tribute to T. Cooper, Lil' Louis or M. Jefferson (whoever did it first...). Proper warehouse banger we've got here, with immense reverberating drums and tons of echo coming in and out of the audio field. This one is meant to be played loud on a great sound system, and trust me, it does give those woofers a proper bone check. Complemented with brief male vocal snippets, the tune alternates between huge percussion drops and vocal driven passages. Cool thing about the vocals is that they sound like an athlete's gasp for air after a demanding race. Which is what you will be sounding like after dancing your butt off to this Chicago influenced thumper. This one will make you sweat, make you smile, make you dance, and hopefully make you go out there and grab this piece of gold wax!

Robert Hood has evidently been eating his greens of late, resulting in two killer floor slayers on the latest M-Plant. Quite rightly, everyone is going nuts for this 12"; from the chest caving kicks and acid propulsion of 'Power To Prophet' on the A-side, over to an optimised Steve Poindexter tribute in 'Crash', re-engineering Chicagoan style with a Detroit muscle car engine. Don't need to say anything else about this one, because it's a 1200 horsepower BEAST. Essential techno.
