Folie à Deux is the fourth studio album by American rock band Fall Out Boy, released on December 10, 2008 by Island Records. As with their previous two albums From Under the Cork Tree 2005 and Infinity on High 2007, its music was composed by lead vocalist and guitarist Patrick Stump, with lyrics penned by bassist Pete Wentz. In regard to the writing process, the band considered Folie à Deux to be their most collaborative record. Folie à Deux - Fall Out Boy. Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes Lyrics. This was the fourth and final Fall Out Boy studio album released before the bands 2009 hiatus, which lasted until their return in 2013. When promoting the album, a viral campaign was launched, centring around a fictional organisation named Citizens For Our Betterment CFOB. A mixtape was later released in support of this, titled Welcome to the New Administration. Fall Out Boy have become the kings of emo - without actually showing much emotion. Sure, they make all the signature emo moves: Singer Patrick Stump bellows cries of hurt, catalogs of grievances and confessions of inadequacy over guitars that hurtle toward big choruses. The groups fourth album, Folie à Deux, begins in high-angst mode, with him crooning Im coming apart at the seams over a funereal organ. But behind the melodrama there is a smirk. Thats certainly the case on Folie à Deux, their most exuberantly cheeky release yet. Its also their most rock-star-ish. Fall Out Boy pile everything onto their fifth album: cameos from superstars and running mates, so many that Lil Wayne and Debbie Harry are barely heard thundering arena rock rhythms and ultra-slick hair metal riffs hints of soul and R&B synths lifted from new wave singles and retro hits alike. If only it were done with a modicum of care, it might seem like a crazy postmodern hall of mirrors, but Fall Out Boy are too artless to be postmodern. They're hyper modern, flitting through the past and present, taking nothing seriously and taking everything they can, cramming so many allusio. Complete your Fall Out Boy collection. Fall Out Boys 2008 full-length Folie À Deux is the definition of polarizing with a mix of hatred and adoration even 10 years later. When Fall Out Boy released their fourth record, Folie À Deux, in 2008, they were no strangers to pissing off fans and baffling critics. Their stylistic changes, both musically and aesthetically, from album to album are notable and clear: Take This To Your Grave is a pure, if not standout, pop-punk record From Under The Cork Tree saw them embracing verbose writing and emo aesthetics Infinity On High took inspiration from hip-hop and soul
